Honda Italy announces Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin Rally
At the Motodays motorshow in Italy Honda Redmoto(the Italian distributor) announced a Rally version of the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin. The street-legal Africa Twin Rally was developed by Redmoto and Paolo Ceci for Rally racing.
The Rally model is 7 kg(15 lbs) lighter than the normal model and gets a 5hp power boost thanks to the titanium Termignoni exhaust system. Also new on the Rally is the UPMAP system. With that system riders can change engine mapping via an app on their smartphone.
The Rally version also has upgraded front and rear suspension featuring a new rear shock with remote reservoir. To lose weight the bike has various billet aluminium and carbon parts replacing the original items. The front fairing is replaced by a billet aluminium Rally navigation tower that uses the original dashboard. The triple LED headlight setup is covered by a plexigas screen. At the rear the seat was replaced by a solo off-road seat. The original panniers can still be used on this Rally version.
All this comes at a price unfortunately. The pricing isn't final but info so far is that the manual version will cost €21.490 and the DCT version will be available for €22.640 in Italy.
